Programs

Law(yer) Strong offers several support programs: Peer Support, Therapeutic Counselling, and Community Programs.

We provide support in a confidential and non-judgmental way.

Matched Peer Support

We are building a team of trained Peer Support volunteers. Peer Support Volunteers receive a full day of training, and become part of our volunteer base for our Match program. When a person requests support, we will look to our roster to find a match with a volunteer with a similar background, stage of life, experience – as many traits as possible. Someone who has ‘been there’ can be an important source of compassion and support, and offer hope for a light on the other side of the struggle.

Group Peer Support

In collaboration with our mental health partners at Blue Cross, we are offering a series of group support sessions by ZOOM on Wednesday afternoons at 3:30pm-5:00pm for 6 weeks. Each session will cover a different topic:

  • May 15 – Anxiety
  • May 22 – Focus
  • May 29 – Depression
  • June 5 – Burnout
  • June 12 – Self-Care
  • June 19 – Coping

Participants will need to register in advance and can attend one or as many sessions as they want. You can maintain anonymity in the online sessions.

We welcome input from our community always. Have an idea? Contact us.

run club

Law(yer) Strong encourages healthy community activities to get lawyers away from their desks. Participating in movement of some kind is a great physical and mental break. Try a walk in the fresh air, a run or yoga!

Monday Walk Club

We will be walking from the Forks (meet under the circle roof), every Monday at noon, for 30 minutes. Come join us! What a great way to start the week.

Friday Run Group

Starting March 1, we will be running Friday mornings at 7am! All levels welcome – we use a run/walk format.  Join the fun!

Law Student Connections

Law(yer) Strong connects with students at Robson Hall periodically throughout the year over the lunch hour. We present on different topics and then are available to chat about our program. We will be there to listen and connect with our future lawyers to support them in becoming resilient and thriving members of our community.  Volunteers are welcome!
